A 26-year-old Canadian national, Nathan Gauvin, faces 21 federal charges in the U.S. for orchestrating a $42 million investment scam through Discord. Prosecutors allege Gauvin lured investors with promises of a hybrid TradFi-DeFi strategy via his entities Gray Digital Capital Management and the Gray Fund, then misappropriated funds for personal luxuries.

Fabricated bank statements and inflated credentials formed the backbone of the scheme, which targeted hundreds of investors. The indictment reveals a pattern of deception spanning cryptocurrency and traditional investment channels, with Gauvin's arrest occurring in England.
